HDMI Audio sound through openELEC XBMC

Former Member

I know this has been commented on previously but I'm in need of more help.

I currently have openELEC running on my Raspberry Pi with XBMC.  Not sure on the exact build all I know is when I plug the Pi in XBMC loads straight up.

I have seen a lot of advice as below

All fixed (audio + resolution)

Instuctions for others who may be experiencing the same issue with a TV and the Raspberry Pi:

1. Install a fresh image

2. start-up the Raspberry Pi and let it set itself up (normal set-up)

3. After you have gone through normal set-up:

     a. Log-in as a normal user (debian image: pi)

     b. Type the command: "sudo nano /boot/config.txt "

     c. Press enter

     d. Type in: "hdmi_drive=2 " [exactly as it is here]

     e. Then press crtl + o

     f.  Press Enter

     g. then press crtl + x

4. Restart using the command: " sudo shutdown -r now "

I can't seem to access this screen with my build.

I have also looked at altering the config.txt file to include hdmi_drive=2 I think this is the way to go for me but I have over written the force HDMI when unplugged with the hdmi_drive=2 and still no sound.

Should i leave the force on and put the drive else where if so where?

Could someone link me to a working example of a config with the drive correctly installed?

This is about the 6th day of running round and i'm losing it.

Message was edited by: Andy McGirr I have attached my attempt at amending ithe config.  Please view and advise. Also I am connecting to a LG 37/LE2R via the HDMI port. Yes I am querying that I am getting no Audio output from this.

Hello Andy, I think you may need to give us a bit more info. First of all, what exactly is the problem, I'm presuming that you are not getting sound over HDMI ? Also what is your setup up in terms of Monitor ?

The only mention of sound and HDMI I can find at the wiki (http://elinux.org/RPi_config.txt) mentions the setting you have changed above, so it could well be something outside of the Pi ? Maybe post your config.txt up so people can have a look at it ?
