Sorry guys, you still aren't saying what's happening....

'Due to overwhleming popularity" == means lots of people want it.

"we have sold out and will no longer be accepting orders for the Gertboard Kit" == means you won;t be supplying it any more....

This doesn't add up.

"However, we will have new and exclusive products coming very soon."  Straight question - will you be supplying pre-assembled boards?

We all know that you guys are manufacturing the RPi in South Wales (with Sony) , I presume that access to that manufacturing capability means that you can now make these boards up just as cheap as you can pick and pack the numersours components.

So, I will ask again - will the Gertboard be made available either in kit form or pre-assmbled, thorugh farnell?

The same thing happened to me - ordered August 10; Canadian shipping address; shipping notice Wednesday; Raspberry Pi arrived Thursday. That's three of us.

It's a real disappointment, as my five year old boy and I have been on tenterhooks for two and a half months. I've been hyping the assembly/soldering part to him, and we took a soldering workshop last weekend in anticipation.

If anyone else is willing to part with their kit, please let me know.

If I can get acknowledgement that fully assembled boards are going to be come out within the next 4 -6 weeks, I'll happily pass on my board as I'm going to be pretty maxed with work for the next 3 weeks or so.  Original delivery notification was Mid November, so I can wait until then..  I know that this caught Gert out by suprise (see here: http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=20526     From Gert: "This is totally new to me"

As near as I can tell, they will be shipping mid-December, although historically they tend to ship a couple weeks earlier than their estimate, e.g. my gertboard was estimated to ship November 5 whereas the actual shipping date was October 24.

That's great to hear how excited your son was.  It's not the same as the Gertboard, but there are several Adafruit accessories for the Raspberry Pi that will provide some soldering experience and enable fun projects. 

The Adafruit Pi PlateAdafruit Pi Plate has mechanical components that need to be soldered, so it's a pretty safe for a beginner as no sensitive components to overheat.  You can either add a tiny breadboard for prototyping, connect external components via the screw terminals or solder a circuit directly on it.  You can even add an Analog to Digital Converter (MCP3008 ADCMCP3008 ADC) read analog sensors similar to the Gertboard.  You can read temperature with a TMP36 temp sensorTMP36 temp sensor or control volume with a potentiometerpotentiometer.

The Adafruit Real-Time Clock breakout boardAdafruit Real-Time Clock breakout board has a nice mix of through hole components to solder and can be easily interfaced with the Raspberry Pi with a Adafruit Pi CobblerAdafruit Pi Cobbler.

So, what your saying is youve shafted this Gert bloke, right? Got him to sigh his rights away, then stopped selling his board?

If your local store runs out of eggs do you imediately assume that they murdered all the hens ?

I agree that the E14 message re. the Gertboard is unclear and E14/Farnell do themselves no good by that lack of clarity - but let's wait until we do know what is happening before we accuse them of anything.

If the only store that is allowed to sell eggs suddenly says there are no more egss for sale and we aren't going to be offering them again, I think it's a reasonable assumption to make that the hot roast chicken they are now selling used to be laying eggs. and won't be laying anymore......
