Connecting to Internet (model B wired)

i am trying to connect my raspberry pi model B to the internet using the ethernet port to my BT home hub. when i turn the pi on, 2 extra lights are illuminated on its circuit board. so i know that it is connected. but then when i try to open the web browser, it comes up with a message and doesn't do anything else. i am using the NetSurf browser. i am wondering if it is the password on the hub. i know it, but i dont know how to imput it. do you need to? help as soon as possible, please.image

  • Hello Joe, as Richard says, it should just really work ! What is the error message that you get, that is the first place to start.

     

    You may want to try going into a terminal session and type 'ifconfig' and see what the output is there. If you post it here, please make sure to remove your external facing IP address just in case any nasty hacker types are watching. Risk is low, but there is no point in tweaking the nose of fate.
