The raspberry pi and Teamviewer?

Hello i would like to build an communication between my home pc and the Raspberry Pi in my vacation house. Is this possible with Teamviewer ore is there an other possibility?

  • Do you mean you wish to see the actual desktop of your home PC, on the R-pi screen?

    Some conventional ways of achieving this involve VNC or Remote Desktop. However, they would require you to

    either have a static IP address (not common in many countries for home users), or to open up ports on your router

    and to remember the IP address (which can and will change, so you'd have to make sure to check your

    IP address before you leave to go to your vacation home). It could even be possible to devise a method where

    the home PC sends you an e-mail with the static address I suppose, depending on how complicated you want to

    get : ) I've not tried it for home use (I have not had the need), but I'm

    sure there are plenty of resources to show how to do remote viewing using VNC or Remote Desktop (the latter assumes

    your home PC is running Windows). I saw this link for rdesktop.

    Personally I prefer Remote Desktop (seems faster to me) but VNC works with multiple platforms).

     

    A far easier alternative is to just take a copy of your hard disk's files with you on vacation on a USB stick ; )

    But you may have a particular scenario that requires remote viewing.
