Help! How can I get Wi-Fi Adapters to Work with Raspberry Pi?

Hi guys. I am new to Rpi. I am using the Motorola Atrix lapdock solution, and I'm running Raspbian Wheezy on a 512mb pi.

So, far so good. I recently bought a Medialink Wireless N wifi adapter (MWN-USB300N), but I can't get the Pi to recognize it. I think this means I have to install the drivers for the adapter, but I'm not sure how to do this on Linux, and I also don't know if I can install the drivers on the SD card, as it is the only storage I have available at the time.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? If so, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Many thanks in advance!image

Your best bet is to refer to the RPi Verified Peripherals (http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeripherals) list to find a good wifi adapter. Those using the Realteck chipset seem to work well without the need to install drivers or do a lot of work.

I personally have had very good luck with the Edimax EW-7811Un nano size USB adapter (I have 4 of them running right now, including one on an Atrix lapdock). You can get them through Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005CLMJLU/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

You can also google for something like "configure wifi on raspberry pi" and you will find several good articles that may have info to help you if you want to try to get your current wifi option to work.

Hope this helps a little bit.

    Check out this link:

just ignore the large ad at the top of the page.  PS - this didn't work for me, cache seems non encompassing
