Where did my pictures go?

spidermonkey12w

I finally got my Pi upgraded and was able to get the camera working. Now I'm new to the Pi and to programming so a lot of what it can do at this point is lost on me, but I'm getting better. Can someone please help me locate the pcitures that I've taken using the Pi camera? Is there a command I have to give the Pi to bring them up for me or are they hidden somewhere in the desktop that maybe I'm just not seeing. Thank all for your help.

    Hi Jason,

    That is worth knowing

But I think that what Bradley is asking, and what we need to know to help you is this: what command or program did you run or otherwise use to take these picures?

Can you detail the steps to take a picture?

Oh sorry about that. I entered:

    raspistill -o testimage.jpg

    and

raspistill -o testimage1.jpg         <-------- that was just because I took a second photo.

    no problem.

I've never used raspistill, but if it has created images this should find them.

Can you get to a terminal (e.g. using the LXTerminal desktop icon), and at the command line enter this:

find / -name "testimage*" -print 2>/dev/null

That should search absolutely everywhere for files starting with "testimage".   The bit on the end is simply to discard error messages (because this command will try to look in places you're not allowed to see).

It should only take a handful of seconds, at most to run, and will print out the filenames, if any.
