portable raspberry pi

Hi I am looking to make my raspberry pi portable I need some help on a few things, on the ben heck show when he built his he used a 7.4v battery to power a lcd but all the ones I can find need 12v will 7.4v work if not my dad said something about a transformer . My second question is how should I power it because lipo battery and li ion battery you cany run dead is there a cut of circuit you can get if you van link me things I would appreciate it.

you can always use another LCD screen and those batterys do have circuits here is a tutorial that will show you what you are looking for along with some PCB chargers. hope this helps.
