Raspberry Pi 2 First Time Setup No Video Signal EMERGENCY (Help!)

RovertScott

I recently received my Raspberry Pi 2 with NOOBS pre-installed on the SD.

The instruction booklet that came with it sated that an RCA or HDMI cable could be used upon startup, so I hooked it up to an old CRT TV from the 80s.

I thought that NOOBS would detect the RCA upon first time startup, before installing Raspbian, but to my horror it did not.

Only now do I read that I needed to have pressed #4 within a 10 second window.

Now unable to reach a wall mounted HDMI screen without unplugging my RPi, I do not know what to do!

...I have no Screen and I must Scream!

Is there an emergency shutdown procedure or something?

Just unplug since you cannot fix for now.

Firstly CRT's cannot be detected and so software guesses what can be supported which can be wrong too often. Can I suggest a different route? Try http://www.berryterminal.com/doku.php/berryboot and select version for Raspberry Pi 2. I have used for HDNMI and find it easier than NOOBS. You need to connect the Raspberry Pi 2 with an ethernet cable or a WiPi at least.

    - if you would like to do a headless installation append to cmdline.txt (on the same line as the other options):

    vncinstall ipv4=192.168.88.88/255.255.255.0/192.168.88.1 (IP/netmask/gateway)

The above must be changed to fit your router configuration.
