Broken RPi dev kits

davorin

As it seems other people have the same problem which have been resolved:

Raspberry Pi • View topic - Compute module not talking

I thought I start a new topic as it is really hardware specific....

Two of the compute modules received today from Farnell are just not usable...as they are broken...

Ubuntu recognizes that some hardware was connected...but fails to communicate as the USB device is broken.

Wonder if other people have/had same issues....

If the boards would have been initially flashed then the error would have been discovered before shipping...

    Hi,

You don't want to be trying to use Ubuntu on the modules, you need to just deal with Rasbian. Ubuntu is primarily built on x86 architecture and Raspbian has the correct kernel modules for the ARM based system. We have managed to get Raspbian working on the modules here.

Ehhm....where did you read I tried to use Ubuntu on the Raspberry Pi development kit????

Anyway..problem was solved when Farnell sent two replacement kits...

And from other people on Raspberry Pi forum I heard that indeed with USB-3.0 hosts you are not able to flash it at all...
