Gideros almost there for the Pi...

Hi all,

I found this forum after being banned from the pi forum for apparently writing aggressive and insulting emails (!!)..

Anyhow, I don't know if any of you are aware but there is a kickstarter to bring a devkit called Gideros to the Raspberry Pi (among others). The Pi is actually a stretch goal (the original goal has been met) and there is only 21 hours and £350 to go!

I'm not actually involved in the kickstarter, but I (among others) have pledged to release full free Pi versions of games we have written if the stretch goal is reached.

John Alexader: Yep, I really am banned. The Odroid C looks great btw.

If Gideros does get a Pi 'port then that same port should run on the Odroid, but obviously much faster. As the Odroid also has Android it should also be targetable now (just the IDE won't be available).

I was writing a Basic for the pi in arm asm - but the whole experience has left a very bitter taste in my mouth so I'm not going to put any effort into that anymore...

I made a new username up and wrote on my original thread asking why I was banned.
I got this reply by email:

"You are receiving this notification because the report you filed on the post "Re: Full for Free!!!" in "Full for Free!!!" at "Raspberry Pi" was handled by a moderator or by an administrator. The report was afterwards closed. If you have further questions contact mahjongg with a personal message."

So I tried to pm 'mahjongg' (as it says) only to find that you can't pm until you have posted. Sick of the whole thing.

Welcome to the egotistical world of Raspberry Pi where anything that isn't us, is banned, or you are labelled a troll.

Odroid will cause them problems as engineers decide the foundation is not worth the effort.
The concept and price, set a benchmark there is no question about that, but their behaviour is less than professional, and some of their moderators seem 'precious'.

Welcome to element14 and enjoy a much less dictatoral atmosphere.

Thanks Mark. Their behaviour is bizarre to say the least. Maybe it's because Lua is a competing language to Python? They do seem obsessed by it. I'm clutching at straws because I really have no idea what is going through the minds of people there. The ban on twitter does look like it's a top down thing though and I suspect Liz Upton as being behind the whole thing.
