Which browser is recommended for R-Pi 2 B?

Hello all,

I purchased an R-Pi 2 B starter kit, installed Raspbian. I opened its default web browser, Epiphany, and tested the Internet connection. Most pages displayed fine, but had problems with You Tube.

The page displayed fine, but found the following:

  1. On clicking the right facing triangle to play the video the video starts playing, but without audio
  2. After clicking the play right facing triangle, it stays on screen, so the video plays with the large play button "on top"
  3. When I hover the mouse pointer over the playing video the control panel does not appear at the bottom of the video

Do I need to tweak some setting? Is there another browser that is recommended?

Thanks! Salvador

    Thanks Clem,

I am just getting started with LInux and in particular Raspbian, s I had to do some research to determine how to install Chrome. I am somewhat confused by what I found:

    • Much if the information that I found on how to install Chrome actually provides instructions on installing Chromium.
    • People knowledgeable in this area are divided into two camps: Those that say that Chromium and Chrome are the same thing and those that say that they aren't. It is as though I am watching a medieval feud between two opposing families.

When you suggested that I install Chrome, did you mean Chromium, or specifically Chrome. If it is Chrome, where can I find instructions on how to install it?

Chrome is the name of a browser that works on various O/S systems like Linux Mac or Windows. Chromium is the O/S that supports Chrome without another O/S. Although they appear the same, they internally do different tasks. Netscape/Mozilla is another browser worth a try.
