Why won't this screen work with a Rpi?

Hi all,

I came across the following screen HDMI+DVI+VGA+Audio Controller Board+12inch 1280*800 DIY TFT Screen For B121EW03 | eBay  which looks like to should accept any HDMI input, such as a raspberry pi.

However, the ebay user states the following when asked: "this board does not support raspberry pi and the input source should be under 1280*800"

I'm confused as to why it wouldn't support a raspberry pi (or any HDMI input) as it looks like a laptop screen with a similar controller board to that mentioned here: How do I use a laptop screen for the raspberry pi?

I would take a long look at https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5851 . It could depend on what was tried and how knowledgeable the tester. As to the second link "looks like" is not technically meaningful because LCD standards vary greatly! Google and you can find it very confusing.

    Thanks for the reply.

I'm guessing it should work once the config.txt is edited to correspond with the correct resolution in that case.

I had to do a similar process when using a HDMI to VGA converter, so i'm kind of know what needs to be done.

I was stressing out as I'd already committed to buying the screen prior to getting the reply from the ebay user.

It's posted from China so will take ages to arrive but I'll let you know if it works. Worst case I'll use it for something else.

*note to self buy screen first then build arcade cabinet around it as finding a 12"-13" monitor sucks.

    Ta
