Why won't this screen work with a Rpi?

Hi all,

I came across the following screen HDMI+DVI+VGA+Audio Controller Board+12inch 1280*800 DIY TFT Screen For B121EW03 | eBay  which looks like to should accept any HDMI input, such as a raspberry pi.

However, the ebay user states the following when asked: "this board does not support raspberry pi and the input source should be under 1280*800"

I'm confused as to why it wouldn't support a raspberry pi (or any HDMI input) as it looks like a laptop screen with a similar controller board to that mentioned here: How do I use a laptop screen for the raspberry pi?

David, although you may have some weird incompatibility problem more likely you will find the only mode that the Monitor advertises and supports is 1280x800 native. You can try this on a laptop and see what it thinks are the available modes!

Any way you can then set up the boot resolution to be the same as one of the supported modes and then you should be good!

    Cheers.

If I fail to get the raspberry pi working I'll hook up an old xbox I have kicking around. I think I already have a component to HDMI converter I should be able to use to make it work.
