HIFIBERRY DIGI I/O DARKICE: ALSADSPSOURCE.CPP:265: INPUT/OUTPUT ERROR [0]

benip
benip over 6 years ago
Hello, I have this error message
after setting up my hifiberry digi+ i/o board with darkice and a PI3:

Using config file: /etc/darkice.cfg
Using ALSA DSP input device: plughw:0,0
Using POSIX real-time scheduling, priority 4
Using aacplus codec
DarkIce: AlsaDspSource.cpp:265: Input/output error [0]
what does it mean?  How to solve the problem ?
I followed this configuration
for the install of the hifiberry board:

sudo nano /boot/config.txt

dtoverlay = hifiberry-digi

# Enable audio (loads snd_bcm2835)
dtoverlay=hifiberry-digi

after restart, i have :

Sous-périphérique #0: subdevice #0

sudo nano /etc/asound.conf

pcm.!default {
type hw card 0
}
ctl.!default {

}

My config with darkice is :

# this section describes general aspects of the live streaming session

bufferSecs = 5 # size of internal slip buffer, in seconds
reconnect = yes # reconnect to the server(s) if disconnected

# this section describes a streaming connection to a ShoutCast server
# there may be up to 8 of these sections, named [shoutcast-0] ... [shoutcast-7]

    Hi Ben,

    I don't know the answer, but maybe that config file needs the line containing plughw:0.0 changed to hw:0,0 or list the contents of /dev to see if your sound card is there, and use that instead, i.e. set it to /dev/xyz

    These are just guesses I'm afraid, I don't own this hifiberry card nor used darkice.

    There is an older post with a similar error.  You may try looking at this to see if it is the same as the error you are seeing.

    https://www.element14.com/community/thread/32651/l/darkice-alsadspsourcecpp265-inputoutput-error-0?displayFullThread=true

    Also, in Actions menu of the forum editor there is a ">>" "Syntax Highlighting" you can click on to get a list of code formats to post your code in.  This will make reading the code you post easier to read.

    Thanks for your answer jon.

    i saw this post :

    https://www.element14.com/community/thread/32651/l/darkice-alsadspsourcecpp265-inputoutput-error-0?displayFullThread=true

    but I don't understand how the problem had been solved ...

    he's talking about a script to execute ?

    how to go in "" "Syntax Highlighting" with my RPI3 ?

    The reference to "Syntax Highlighting" was related to when you post code on this forum; it is not on the Raspberry Pi.

    On your Raspberry Pi, try running 'dmesg' and see if there are any messages related to the hifiberry.  Perhaps a different device instances is being created that is not being picked up.

    it appears your HiFiBerry device is seen:

    [    4.197041] wm8804 1-003b: revision E
    [    4.221150] snd-hifiberry-digi soc:sound: wm8804-spdif <-> 3f203000.i2s mapping ok

    However, is this the correct driver you want to attach to the HiFiBerry?

    Looking at the following instructions for the HiFiBerry, driver snd-soc-wm8804 should be blacklisted .

    https://www.hifiberry.com/build/documentation/hifiberry-software-configuration/

    You can use 'lsmod' to list the drivers that are loaded on your Pi and see if the correct driver is installed.

    Also, you can run the following and see if you get any data for the device:

    aplay -l

    It's not my method, it's what is posted on hifiberry site.

    Just out of curiosity, did you get any response from the HiFiBerry site?
