Setting up 7" LCD TFT Display 1024*600 with RPi 3

Question

I just bought a 7" LCD TFT Display 1024*600 HDMI VGA Monitor Screen Kit for Raspberry Pi 3. It came with no documentation I generally know how to go about setting it up but I was wondering if someone has recently done it and could point me in th eright direction A picture of what I got is attached. I intend to use it with RPi 3 B+ and Rasbian Stretch. The specs in the listing say it will require 12 V but the power cable supplied has USB connector at the other end! Guess, I can always try it with 5V. The other question is whether any edits are required to the config file?

That you should ask your supplier about. I don't think this kit is an element14 or Raspberry Pi foundation product, but it should be intuitive enough that there shouldn't need to be any documentation. Most people don't read the manuals for a computer monitor - this is basically the same thing but in parts-form. - Gough

Looks a lot like the one I got from Adafruit except they dont have the remote.

worked fine with a windows 10PC. With the PI you may have to tweak the config a bit.

One thing I found is make sure the screen is powered up Before the PI.

If the Pi boots first it goes into the wrong resolution.

You may just have to change the boot file options for HDMI to force what settings you want then boot order wont matter

The kit seems to be an LCD and a scaler-input board with a separate front-panel button PCB. For the Raspberry Pi, it will probably be best to use the HDMI output from the Pi into the scaler input for the clearest picture. The scaler board will need 5V - hence the USB to barrel jack provided. The screen's flexible flat cable connects to the scaler board directly. The front panel button PCB will connect via the included multi-way ribbon lead. - Gough
