PiFace not working

arsaphes

Hello,

I've just bought a PiFace Relay+ to extend my Raspberry Pi 3 B+, followed the starter guide, but le python blink test doesn't work. All I have is an error message saying that the card is not present. All switches are in correct position and power is supplied. (I checked the screw terminals).

I've upgraded Raspian as well.

My goal is to command the relays with node.

Any idea?

Thanks for your help!

Are you sure that the necessary overlays have been configured to load (if I recall correctly, SPI is required)?

Have you tried executing the program with sudo privileges due to the hardware access requirements?

Perhaps you can try using other tools to access the port expander the device - e.g. wiringpi, although I don't know if it supports your version of the PiFace.

Unfortunately, yes... SPI is loaded. Sudo or not, same thing. I played with the 'GPIO' command, the pins are changing correctly, but no relay change. Even if I set all the GPIO pins to high, nothing appends...

Are you sure JP4 is fitted (closed 1-2) as the 5V supply to the board depends on it if you're not using the power supply terminals at the bottom?

Likewise, are you sure that JP1, JP2 and JP3 are at their default positions across the first two pins (1-2)?

Other than that, I suppose you might give the relays a bit of a tap just in case they somehow got mechanically stuck ... but I can't think of anything else.

Yes, all JPs are correctly set. I even tried to move JP1..3 and with JP4 removed. Allways the same thing. What is surprising is that I've got some power on the screw terminals, even if JP4 is removed...

I also tried the bit of tap, but still no luck...

    Thanks anyway for your help!
