need help with element 14 and rasberry Pi

Question

hello

I have a element 14 and raspberry Pi model B and 7 inch touch screen and power supply

I do not have a clue where to start.

all I get is JIVE and so not know what to do there. when I try to find beginners videos

can you send me a link to a beginners video .

I was an electrical electronic engineer for years but am lost with new stuff.

Welcome to E14 community. I suggest you install an operating system (O/S) on the single board computer (SBC) before working with the screen. I make this suggestion to limit the number of variables in play during the build. The Raspberry Pi foundation website has the details to help you install the O/S. With the O/S installed you can follow any number of instructions to get the screen working. I like using the details at Adafruit website. I recommend with you limited knowledge but strong technical background you start with the Pi keyboard and mouse using a monitor (KVM). The full O/S out of the box gives you a GUI screen to move around with. A comfort factor at this point will give you the confidence to tackle the screen. You could install the screen and make the whole thing work from the get go with a KVM. If something goes wrong you have limited tools to troubleshoot. If you have a friend that has experience working with Pi's that knowledge helps when trying to make short cuts. A Pi working out of the box with a Raspbian O/S is a great start. Then adding the touch screen takes it to another level.
