Video and Raspberry Pi

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

Sorry to ask such a basic question but just how do I get a You Tube video clip downloaded to play on the model B RPi ?

I can get an mp4 video from my camera SD card playing using the Command Line quite easily.

But I have tried some scripts on the web and just cannot download from You Tube.

I use the standard Raspberry Wheezy software for use as a desktop replacement and don't really wish to use XBMC etc.

One more, please.  Can I not use the RPI to download NOOBS since I do not have a desktop.

I hope you do not mind my basic questions.

Thank you and Best Wishes to you all...Stewart.

I think you can install and use omxplayer:

    sudo apt-get -y install omxplayer

    omxplayer yourvideo.mp4

I don't understand your other question...you want to download a NOOBs image to your PI to create another SD card with NOOBs on it? If so what type of storage do you have...more than just your SD card I hope...

Hi, you could use youtube-dl, specially last development version (available via github), because youtube periodically changes references from their pages. Then you can play the video using mplayer or any other player.
