very interesting addition: looking forward to testing the microphone inputs

This looks really useful.

We are developing a network of open microphones to relay live audio streams from wild places and this could be very significant for our project.

I look forward to trying out the sound card. My only concern is that the microphone in appears to be mono, and the Plug in Power supplied to the mic is quite low; while onboard mics have limitations.

But I have bought one and we will try it out and follow progress with interest.

Thanks.

Best wishes,

Grant (soundCamp)

The headset mic input is mono.

There is a stereo line in, which you could use with a mic pre-amp + two mics.

The onboard DMICs sound very good to my (non-audiophile) ears.

If you want lots of mics some distance away you may be better off with USB options.

    hi pigraham

    good points

I guess though the mics mounted on the Pi card are of limited use: the spacing gives you limited stereo options and it's often convenient to keep the Pi out of the weather and run a cable out to somewhere with less machine noise and more interesting sound - for us, at least.

    thx
