Wolfson modified Noobs raspbian zipped img  Cannot unzip new download

superpat
superpat over 11 years ago

Hi,

I deleted my original zip download  and the img of the above file.   I have downloaded it again, but all the unzip programs I try will not unzip it, ( say no unzip sig).

I have painfully downloaded it again and still no joy with unzipping.

Have you changed the file recently?

Please, please  publish the md5 sum for this file!  (so I can eliminate download errors)

many thanks

regards

Patrick

    I have kept my original download, but I have downloaded the zip file again to compare them.

    I'm running WinXP with Cygwin.

    My old download from Feb 26 and today's are identical.

    $ ls -ltr *wolfson*zip
    -rwx------+ 1 ragnar Ingen 4713117059 Feb 26 12:16 wolfson_3.10_master.zip
    -rwx------+ 1 ragnar Ingen 4713117059 Mar 17 21:12 new_wolfson_3.10_master.zip
    $ md5sum wolfson_3.10_master.zip new_wolfson_3.10_master.zip
    72d091a9b43e47a5b7b85432ec15611c *wolfson_3.10_master.zip
    72d091a9b43e47a5b7b85432ec15611c *new_wolfson_3.10_master.zip

    WinZip complains - "Archive is greater than 4 gigabytes."

    WinRAR complains - "! ... wolfson_3.10_master.zip: Either multipart or corrupt ZIP archive"

    Command line unzip complains - "warning [wolfson_3.10_master.zip]: 418149653 extra bytes at beginning or within zipfile...error [wolfson_3.10_master.zip]: start of central directory not found;...

    7-zip works, it extracts the image OK.

    There are Linux and OSX versions of 7-zip available at http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

    Tony,

    I found the following information which may be of help, it says to install the latest version of Info-Zip or use an alternative program:

    After some poking around, the problem turns out to be that OS X ships with v3.0 of Info-Zip's zip, which supports the Zip64 extensions and uses them automatically when needed (so I was creating Zip64 files without realizing it), but only v5.52 of Info-Zip's unzip, which doesn't support Zip64 - Zip64 support was added in unzip's v6.0.

    I have no idea why Apple didn't ship an unzip that matches the shipped zip, but I found two easy solutions:

    1. MacPorts users can install unzip 6.0 using "sudo port install unzip".
    2. The shareware archive utility BetterZip, which is a handy piece of software anyway, supports Zip64, so just by using that instead of the command line, I was able to extract my archived VM and continue my day.

    From: osx - Extract large zip file (50 GB) on Mac OS X - Super User

    Could you try this and let me know if it works for you ? The command "sudo port install unzip" would be ran from a terminal/console.

    I test the pi + wolfson audio card

    OS is wolfson 3.10 master<<<(many os inside)

    First I install RASPBIAN,and add wolfson img

    http://www.element14.com/community/message/107186/l/re-re-wolfson-modified-noobs-raspbian-zipped-img-cannot-unzip-new-download#107186

    after reboot I add those sh

    ./Playback_to_Lineout.sh

    ./SPDIF_playback.sh

    and startx use LXmusic player

    the audio signal is well

    audio signal path is 1.pi>lineout port>headphone 2.pi>spdif port>dac>amp

    the sound is good

    everthing is ok

    ***************************************************************************************************************

    later

    I select the RaspBMC to install(it's same SD card[wolfson 3.10 master] I never change SD card to switch OS,I just select OS when the system on boot)

    when installed

    in the xbmc menu I got some xbmc info

    xbmc running 12 >>>>>>So the wolfson 3.10 master is same "Version:December 2013" in pi offical download page

    and I add this

    wget -O xbmc-14-20140420-nc3.tar.gz http://goo.gl/tNRTO0 --no-check-certificate

    pv xbmc-14-20140420-nc3.tar.gz | tar xzf - -C /home/pi/.upgrade

    sudo cp /home/pi/.upgrade/xbmc-14-20140420-nc3/{fixup_x.dat,start_x.elf} /boot

    ln -sfn /home/pi/.upgrade/xbmc-14-20140420-nc3/xbmc-bcm /home/pi/.xbmc-current

    sudo reboot

    when I reboot

    I doing "update"&"upgrade"

    reboot again

    and add wolfson img

    http://www.element14.com/community/message/107186/l/re-re-wolfson-modified-noobs-raspbian-zipped-img-cannot-unzip-new-download#107186

    after reboot I add those sh

    ./Playback_to_Lineout.sh

    ./SPDIF_playback.sh

    Now I finally start to setting my xbmc

    but the audio output only have HDMI and Anologue

    no wolfson output

    so I aplay -l

    Hi, I don't know what is causing your problem, but I notice you seem to have the Pi connected to your TV (?) with an HDMI cable. I wonder if that is forcing the default audio output to be HDMI? I've very little experience with XBMC so I can't help you there.

    You could try what I did, and install MPD and Volumio, and run the Pi headless (without the TV and HDMI connection), accessing it remotely from your main computer.

    This link http://typingoutloud.org/raspberry-pi-installing-volumio-pibang/ explains how to install Volumio (or at least the Volumio Web-GUI) in your Raspian installation. The example is actually for the PiBang distribution, but it worked for me installing it to my Raspyfi set-up, so there's a good chance it would work with a Raspian install.

    Alternatively, install MPD (if it is not already installed) and use another MPD client like Gnome Music Player, remotely from your main computer. I'm using the same Wolfson kernel as you (from Ragnar) with the Volumio Web-GUI, so they can work together.

    Not sure about RuneAudio. I tried it when I was using a USB Dac (before getting the Wolfson card), but it was early in its development, and didn't work well. Nice graphics, but they don't seem to have done any development work for 3 months, looking at the date of the download files. They designed the graphic interface that Volumio uses as well, but I wonder if Michelangelo, the current developer on Volumio, is the one who did most of the development work on the audio side of things?

    Thanks for that. Unfortunately, the macports unzip didn't work either:

    $ /opt/local/bin/unzip -?

    bug reports using http://www.info-zip.org/zip-bug.html; see README for details.

    ...

    $ /opt/local/bin/unzip -l wolfson_3.10_master.zip

      (attempting to process anyway)

    error [wolfson_3.10_master.zip]:  start of central directory not found;

      zipfile corrupt.

      (please check that you have transferred or created the zipfile in the

      appropriate BINARY mode and that you have compiled UnZip properly)

    $ /usr/bin/unzip -l wolfson_3.10_master.zip

    However, I was able to install ez7z and THAT was able to deal with the zip64 extensions.

    Thanks again for your suggestions.

    Well, that is a big and complex  subject...

    I would suggest you start out by checking out these links:

    A tutorial on using the ALSA Audio API

    Study the source code of arecord/aplay and the other ALSA utilities. https://gitorious.org/alsa/alsa-utils

    And, of course the API reference: ALSA project - the C library reference: Index Preamble and License

    Andy,

         It has been a couple more months, any progress?  For me the board is more or less useless if it can not be used with the standard up to date kernel.  This just run a froozen kernel is a trap I cannot afford to fall into again.  I appreciate the work Ragnar has done here and he is to be commended, but for this to be usable their needs to be a deb with the drivers for the current release available.
