Stripped version of Raspberry Pi

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

Hi,

Is there a possibility to buy a stripped version of the Pi model A? I need only the board with the processing power on it, 1 usb port, the power connector and the GPIO. So I could spare the audio jack, s-video, hdmi connector, camera connector, etc. If so, how much does it cost and where can I get it?

Thanks,

Razvan

Thanks guys but actually I don't need someone to remove them for me, I asked because without all these compoenents the board should be cheaper. I need to buy a few so finding it already stripped to the actual processing core would be nice. I am in Europe, Germany.

    Best Regards,

    Razvan

There are a plethora of ARM development board from Freescale, ST, NXP and pretty much every ARM chipset maker around.

The issue is what you want to do with them, because the Pi is done by a non-profit and sold pretty much at cost.

To get something cheaper you would need to go for really tiny boards pretty much with a small Cortex chip and nothing at all.

Can you settle with just FreeRTOS, USB and GPIOS ? Try one of the SAM XPLAINED development boards from Atmel. It just a Cortex M0 ATSAM chip, a debugger bridge chip and USB.

    ATSAMD20-XPRO - ATMEL - SAMD20, XPLAINED PRO, EVAL BOARD | Farnell UK

It have good support from Atmel, Atmel Studio and FreeRTOS. All the software is free (as beer). No need for a JTAG programmer, you can program and debug with a usb cable.

But hey, it's not a 700 Mhz Broadcom, and the price difference is not that much.

There are more stuff to check around, but nothing can beat the Pi on price really.

If you want cheaper, you would have to deal with Arduino clones, teensy, EzSBC2, etc  ...

Good point Iago, if Razvan tells the group what he want's to do then he can get a more sensible answer to his low profile woes image
