Hello,

I have recently purchased a Raspberry Pi and have set it up as follows:

At the TV end I have:

I have installed in my first attempt a Kali linux distribution from Download Official Kali Images | Kali Linux Official Documentation which failed and then I downloaded the

NOOBs Lite from Downloads | Raspberry Pi. When I powered on my TV in both cases I have the following result:

image

Similarly for source = AV1, DVD, SVHS, TV I get the same screen.

This is my connector:

Kindly help me out.

Thanking you

Also, unless I'm not seeing it properly, the HDMI to RCA cable as seen in the last photo just looks wrong : ( The HDMI interface only transports digital data, and there doesn't seem to be any electronic adapter box in the photo.

    Hey shabaz,

My cable looks similar to http://www.tomshw.it/forum/attachments/schede-audio-altoparlanti-e-cuffie/87805d1385040929-ho-bisogno-di-un-cavo-hdmi-particolare-zena-hdmi-3rca-black-010.jpg

As you can see, there is no intermediate adapter resulting in a direct conversion.

Perhaps there is some electronics in the black plastic shroud around the HDMI connector. Some active electronics is needed for HDMI to RCA/Composite conversion.

Anyway, as mentioned by crosseyejack there is no need for this, a two-wire phono/RCA cable is all you need, the RPI has an analog connector on-board that you can use.

When you get the correct cable, i.e. for analog video, then you will need to press a button while starting up the RPI - see the instructions here.

Hey shabaz, I connected my raspberry pi to my TV as follows:

As you can see I have connected the RCA video output of the raspberry pi to the RCA video input of my T.V. and no other connectors are involved. The result is the same. Any suggestion will be helpful.
