MPLAB X and PICkit 3: Failed to get Device ID

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

Has anyone tried to use MPLAB X IDE v2.30 and PICkit 3 to talk with the chipKIT pi?

I created a project and selected this device IC32MX250F128B

I then tried to upload (Read Device Memory to File: see http://microchip.wikidot.com/mplabx:read-a-device-and-save-the-hex-file)

Here are my results:

*****************************************************

Connecting to MPLAB PICkit 3...
Firmware Suite Version.....01.35.16
Firmware type..............PIC32MX

Target voltage detected
Unable to connect to the target device.
Failed to get Device ID

i had been using the microstickii programmer to program pic32mx250f128b  with a pre compiled  hex file for the micromite project. however i fried the micostick ii programmer and had a pickit 3 programmer . at first the pickit3 programmer did not recognize the pic32. somewhere i read that if you hold down the button on the  pickt3 programmer white attaching the programmer to the pc with the mplab ipe ver 5xx the program would load the required operating system to the pickit3

    programmer. hope this helps
