Raspberry Pi A+ boot problem

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

I have just received and assembled my Pi A+ and it won't boot. Red power LED on aok, Green ACT LED blinks once then goes out.

Have checked all troubleshooting blogs but no go. Powered up board with SD ejected, and ACT LED comes on, no change when SD inserted. Changed power source and TV. Still no go.

Help!

Using A+ board with Element14 8GB micro SD with NOOBS pre installed, USB attached combo keyboard/mouse, and RCA connector to old Sony TV.

I have heard of it not getting enough power.  It could also be because of the output settings.  Also try using HDMI as this will work.  Let me know if this helps.

Try to power the Pi without a keyboard and mouse. If nothing happens then try another SD card and i would suggested a 8gb.

Be sure that the power adapter is  5V and 1A and above.

Hi, dtsartsanis. First thing. When you are using the Composite (RCA

Connector) Video Output. You may have to hit either 1 or 2 on your

Keyboard during Boot-up. It's been a while, since I setup my Pi with

XBMC Media Player. So, I can't remember which number is for Composite.

But, each number, is used to Activate a Video Output (Composite or

HDMI). The default is HDMI. If you don't hit any key, on Boot. After you

Boot, one time, with Composite Output. Your Pi, may remember your

selection. Also, I agree with the other Comments. Make sure your OS on

your SD Card is not Corrupted or the File System is Damaged, too. You

can do this in any Computer, with a Compatible SD Card Reader. Either

Built in or External USB Card Reader. I did end up Re-Formatting the

Pi's SD Card with Noobs and then back again with RaspBMC. I had a little

problem with the Original File System, that came on the Pre-Formatted

Element 14 SD Card, becoming Corrupted. And the System Would Not Boot. I

thought at first that this was because. I had to Hard Shut Down the Pi,

a couple of times. By Un-Plugging the Power Cord. When I couldn't see

the OS in the Monitor. During my Tests on using the Analog TV Card to

input the Signal to a Computer. And when the OS Froze up and would Not

go to into Shut Down Mode in the GUI. But, Since Reformatting the Card,

I have not had this Problem again. Through several Hard Shutdowns, since

then. That was a couple of years ago. I have had to Reformat my SD Card

twice since then. Initially, I used GParted, a Free and Open Source GUI

Partition Managing App, that I have been using since about 2005 to

Repair the File System on the Card. I Put the Card in my Laptop and used

GParted to Both Repair and Re-Format the SD Card. So, that I would have

a new and clean file system. Read more in my Article - Review,
