Got two of them and same problem on both with several hdmi tv(s). Older Pi worked fine on both tv(s). Headphone jack works fine. Used Python Games to switch as well as sudo raspi-com-fig.

Hello
I have the same problem.
With larger TV it works but not smaller.
Jack does not work.
Other parties commented that on load, error is thrown reading tv.
So it is an issue.
Please start a new question, since your jack does not work.
Thanks

Response.
My HDMI does not work for my smaller HDMI tv.
SO I still have an issue.
The PI is an element14 PI
So I still have a HDMI sound problem
Plus
I have a jack problem
These issues must be tied together.
The resolution other people on the net is to find a HDMI device that works.
I could not find that again
but i have this

I gave F T 's larger TV solution a try on the largest tv I have (32" insignia) and got the same ( HDMI no sound ) results I list above with a change from jack ( inland $4.00 headset yes sound ) to forced HDMI using both the sudo raspi-config change and the Python Game sound output change way with no difference. NO HDMI SOUND for me - So what is it with F T 's big set solution for HDMI and my cheep headphone solution for JACK.

OK
I finally got it to work on the small HDTV.
--I tried the below steps again and it worked finally.
---------But Why did the big tv work but not the small tv?
R-Pi configuration file - eLinux.org
This method is most useful if you can see the display of the Raspberry Pi and you wish to make minor adjustments.
sudo nano /boot/config.txt
hdmi_drive=2Uncomment outPress Control-x Press y Press [enter]
sudo reboot
Here is the config file I edited.
# Uncomment to force an HDMI mode rather than DVI. This can make audio work in
# DMT (computer monitor) modes.
#hdmi_drive=2
Before saving, I went to the blank line below hdmi_drive=2
This may be the key
Do not save on the edited line
I hope this helps for you.

Is the larger TV HDMI 1.4 while the smaller is HDMI 1.3? That would explain a lot.

You may want to try this with the larger tv: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=24679
They explain mode support changes that may account for the problem.
