thank you for your answer that confirm again that this is the right choice. I will definitely us the LAN - that was the original idea - also because in someways the "box" should be opened to the possible external connections, further modules developed in future and so on.

thank you for the detail. As you can read in the other post, for this specific case I think that the better solution is to adopt the LAN approach. There are also other aspects of the project that are involved making this solution the more reliable. In fact your suggestions are to take in account b me for other aspects of the project and you have added some informations that was totally unknown to me about the SPI mechanism to be used with two masters, that in this case can only make things more complex (more hardware, more software more of ...)

As a matter of fact, the Arduino suggestion was also an idea I have considered, also because the SciFi your PI kit includes a PI board microcontroller, but making things more complicated just to add hardware is not an approach that I like.

Hi phoenixcomm Cristina ! I am fine. Always raining here but lot of projects are going ahead... And as in the Netherlands it seems they have no idea on how to cook anything else then deep-fry stuff, I made great progresses with my personal variations of receipts.

Please go get a WRT-54G and remove its case.  The switches are very robust. you will have more than double the throughput  as 10Bt was never FD only HD.

Plus you will have a 100 Mb backplane as well and you don't have, Plus another factor 10Mb to 100Mb good jump there as well. Oh yes, I almost forgot network collisions and retransmits, POFF, NONE, GONE

his is a specialized processor, don't think the pie could deal with this.

phoenixcomm Hi dear phoenix you are correct. Most of the parts of the first Meditech project was just a proof of concept and the next prototype (the one on the road for the product) will be reviewed in some strategical parts. I will publish more about this at the end of August. And the software too will be revised. And also this part will be notices further for some reasons. Contact me pvt for some preview news if you are interested.

BTW, I have thenused a hacked hub for this solution.
