Bad CompositeVideo Jack on raspberry pi 2.

bashterm

I recently bought 3 pi2s from the element14 store. One was for me, one for a friend, and one for my sister. I recently picked up a component video display that I wanted to connect to my pi. I connected all of the wires correctly and followed the instructions on how to show the video through component on NOOBS on my own pi. It did not work. I then followed the exact same steps on my sister's pi, and sure enough, it did work.

Any Suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks,

Aidan

Assuming you did use the same cable for both your RasPi 2 and your sister's, it may be that your board has a defective Audio/Video jack.  If you have multimeter you can check for connectivity.  With power off, try plugging the adapter cable into the Audio/Video jack and see if the pads on the RasPi 2 PC board connect to the RCA connectors at the other end of the adapter cable.  Also see if any of the Audio/Video signals are shorting to each other.

If this all checks out, try using your sister's SD card.  Maybe something didn't get configured correctly on yours.

Thanks. I ran a test with the multimeter. I tried each of the pins on the bottom of the jack with the same connector. No connectivity. I used the same exact cable and SD card with my sister's, so I'm guessing that I have a faulty A/V jack. Is there a known fix or do I need to get a new board?

    Thanks,

    Aidan

No connectivity at all?  That's bizarre.  I'd expect some of the signals to connect but video or ground to be missing.  Does your sister's board  have connectivity?

Replacing connectors is a pain and it's easy to damage the board.  If it's still under warranty, I'd RMA.  element14 needs to know how boards are failing the the field to improve manufacturing yield, so you're helping them out image
