im running rasbian on raspberry pi to an is connected with hdmi cable on a tv and outpus only the video, has no sound. I have to connect a different cable for the audio?

    Strange. My raspberry Pi model B (with 512 RAM)  can provide this feature. May be you have a wrong settings on you TV?

    Could be an issue with the cable, the TV settings, or the Pi itself. If I remember properly, there is a Pi setting for output to HDMI or audio port. Check that first.     Second, check TV settings. Some might not have audio set up. TV's are so varied, so I can't give you something on configuring your TV unless I know what your TV is. There is probably a manual for your TV available as a PDF somewhere on the web. Usually, a Google search will turn something up in fairly short order.

     

    If neither one of those work, I would try using a different cable, the one you have may be bad. If there is no resolution from those, you may have to consider your RasPI. Try a different cable on a different TV, or monitor with your Pi. Make certain that the monitor has an audio capability. I'm using a monitor with DVI, so I'm using an adapter for the HDMI out on the Pi. With this setup, I don't have sound on the monitor, but that isn't an issue to me. If your Pi gets sound on another monitor/TV, then move to the next step.

     

    If that doesn't work, you may have to check your TV itself. Try using a new cable with another piece of equipment with an HDMI interface. If that doesn't work, then your TV may have an issue with the sound on the HDMI port.

     

    I hope this helps, and I think I've covered most of the issues that could be problem. If I've forgotten any, hopefully someone else will come along with those forgotten possibilities.
