New Pi User

Hi

My dad has bought the following for my son.

Raspberry Pi 2 with NOOBS Os - he also has bought him the Wifi dongle.

think it comes with an 8GB SD card also?

So, I also need - USB Mouse/Keyboard - and an HDMI monitor?  And a power supply (which one?)  and maybe a book (suggestions).

Anything else?

Thanks

Phil

So I am just posting this in case there are others looking for a bit more resources from this thread.

    Keyboard and mouse - yes.

You can use a HDMI cable to connect the Pi to a display, you can also use a HDMI to DVI cable.

If you wish to use a VGA connection, there is an adaptor available. PI-VIEW HDMI to VGA Adapter Cable for Raspberry Pi Computer Board

There is also an A/V connector (The headphone like socket) that can output composite video. This is usually shown as a yellow phono connector on TV's, though use of the HDMI connector is typically recommended, especially when starting out.

You will need a 5v Micro-USB power supply. Minimum recommended current on the PI 2 is 1.8A, though I personally choose 2A+. I have used a (Nokia) smartphone charger for years without any issues.

Book wise - That's largely down to personal preference. There are plenty of good web resources to get started with.
