Spotify streamer with arduino display?

Looking for ideas really I have old 1932 radio that I would like to re-purpose for my home I was wondering if anyone has done a Spotify player on pi with a arduio displayed controller?  Think thats the route I want to try or I guess really if all can be accomplished on the pi would be nice just trying to keep the radio as original as possible without tear up the face too much besides cleanup.   Want to keep the design as is but want a display or something.....maybe or some way to control it even remotely.

Just pondering it any info would be great already found some sites but not 100% what I am looking for.

Here is a picture of the cabinet I have to work with today has been stripped down which provided me with a really nice grain wood.  this is a bonus.

    That's a neat idea for a project!

I've not tried this code, but it looks like it can connect to Spotify: https://www.mopidy.com/

Regarding the controls/display, I guess the least impacting one (i.e. not affecting the exterior of the radio) will be a web browser (e.g. on a mobile phone). The URL mentioned that this is possible. Then, once you're familiar with how to control it using the API, maybe you could add buttons inside the radio, so that the exterior remains the same. Maybe even reduce the display to a minimal few discrete LEDs : )

The LCD/TFT is a good idea too for more usability, maybe it could auto-switch off so that it only lights up when the user is controlling it.

If you need assistance with connecting buttons/LEDs to the Pi, there is some info here: Raspberry Pi GPIO Explained

I LOVE the old cassette player mod on that site shabaz, installing NFC tags in the cassette cases to select the playlist is a genius stroke!
