Raspberry Pi 3 B+ broken, no green light

Hello Guys,

My Raspberry Pi is driving me nuts.

First I thought the fuse is broken, but I still doesn't work after leaving it off for two days. I tried several microSD cards and also 2 different power supplys, which both work with another pi.

It stopped working when I plugged in a usb drive. It just turned black and now only the red light is lighting up. there isn't any physical damage on the board. it just stopped working, what can I do?

Thanks for your help!

Max

The Red LED on the Raspberry Pi indicates Power. If it blinks a little or doesn't blink at all as soon as you connect the Pi to power:

    • You may be having power fault (may be a bad USB cable, bad adapter, an adapter not powerful enough, etc)
    • Your Pi may be fried (hopefully this is not the case)

As indicated by cstanton is better to discard power issues by using the Official Raspberry Pi adapterOfficial Raspberry Pi adapter.

Another way you may discard possible USB Power IN issues is to power the Pi directly to the GPIO pins. This method will bypass some power safety measurements so is advised only if you know what to do and you have a 5V regulated power supply that can provide enough current -at least 2.1 is advisable to play safe.

    Luis

Ok. The powersupply works without problems on another pi. it has 2,5 A. Another Samsung Plug doesn't work that way.

Haven't come around to test powering it directly with the GPIO pins, but I will look into that, when I am back in the lab.

    Thank you so far!
