Is there warranty on the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ ?

Hi,

I purchase the Model B+ last month from Amazon and now when I turn it on, the red light diode comes on but not the adjacent green light diode.

When I connect by ethernet, the ethernet jack light does not come on, so I cannot talk to the motherboard via internet (after installing a micro SD for the o/s). Everything worked earlier, now it stops for ethernet connection.

Can I return it to element14 for another mother board?

Hi Tony,

The law varies from country to country, but typically if a warranty repair/refund/replacement applies, then you're entitled to send it to the _seller_ of the item (i.e. Amazon in your case, or a seller on Amazon's marketplace). There are statutory warranties (i.e. written into law) that you could check up on - such information is important for all consumer purchases, so worth spending time on getting to know, for your country.

Also, I wanted to check, have you done any troubleshooting? It would be worth testing with a different network cable, and a different port on the router/switch, or testing the cable and port using a different device. It is normal for the Pi to hang for some time if it thinks nothing is attached to the Ethernet connection. Maybe you've already done this troubleshooting.

Also, it could be worth downloading and installing Raspbian on another micro SD card too, just in case there is some configuration issue.
