Also, an option (if it isn't ruled out for other reasons) could be to use USB, there are USB to micro SD card adaptors that are tiny. High speed isn't needed for the (presuming) retro game ROMs, since they are usually tiny in file size too and can be read quickly and cached.

My idea is to make fit the raspberry mmc hat inside this case i have invented with my friend, i think it needs only a little fenditure in the right side to make fit the micro sd. So we will have a fully workable console with possibility to add and remove games at your fingertips! : )image

I was just thinking the same. As a matter of fact, IMHO the only case where an extra-sd card reader is needed is when you absolutely need -always - a second SD card. But there are plenty of USB readers of any kind...

I think that the point is that if you dont need something invisible and not as fast as the mmc hat you can adopt an usb key externally but if you need something invisible and fast and also adding the possibility to make a raid of the 2 hard disks this is the solution.

It's a pure example, it's a choice point, when it's hot you can comfortably wear a t-shirt but some other people perefer to wear a vest : ).

    Hi!

Thanks for clarifying the requirement that the solution must not be exposed outside the case and that you may need RAID and faster than USB flash speed, since I could not guess this, nor what you'd ruled in our ruled out. Anyway, the information could be useful to others who are considering it and may come across this thread in the future, even though it unfortunately appears it does not suit your requirement from what you say.

outside of the topic i have a question to the design owner, is it possible to boot the os from the hat and use the sd slot of raspberry pi as additional space support? Thanks
