I moved over 1000 miles from it, unfortunately. Fortunately, I have a buddy that is close and can buy and ship to me cheaper than the element 14 'personal' partner does.

No full schematic is publicly available (it is not open source). But yes, you can directly connect 5V DC to the 40-way connector if you wish to.

    Hello sunildatta

It's not that you can't, we recommend going to one of these resellers HERE.

    Thank you,

    Jamie

    Jamie

I think you didn't get my point. I asked "Why an Individual cannot buy raspberry-pi-2 from element14?" I can see the clear difference in price:

    element14                : Rs.2900/-

    greenindiaelectronics : Rs. 3,354.90/-

    crazypi                      : Rs. 3,200.00/-

Out of the 5 links you have given, only 2 have this kit and as you said "we recommend", so, what I have understood is that as an Individual I can buy this from element14, but I am not aware of the process. It will be great if you can clearly mentioned how can I buy from element14 as an individual.

    Hi Jamie,

I have already contacted them and they said they need sales tax registration number. Now, my question is how can an Individual/Hobbyist provide sales tax registration number. And to my surprise, a person with a sales tax registration number can place an order for single raspberry pi 2 i.e. qty=1, then why not an Individual/Hobbyist can do the same.

    Regards

    Sunil Datta

If I were in the area of a microcenter.com I would go there, as they have been selling them in stores for the standard price.  I am disappointed in element14's handing of the user/business distinction.

Because you're not a company and there are various laws, mainly revolving around tax, that limit the ability to order wholesale from business to business.

This is why non-business customers are re-directed to resellers.

If you can suggest clearer messaging on it then I'm certain that feedback will be taken on-board.

Yes, change all instances of 'Business' with 'Reseller' on the links to that path of purchase.
Suggestion 2, a bonus:  Get a better partner than MCM for your direct ship.  I suggest Amazon /w Prime.  Of course, MCM is part of the MDD /w Farnell.  So, outsourcing that to Amazon primarily will cut your profit.
So, suggestion 3:  find a way to duplicate Amazon's amazingly cheap 'almost free shipping.... or keep suffering the bash for $15 on the first of a $35 product that fits in a $6 shipped box.
