    New Pi project just posted:

Working with Sprites: Building Street Fighter with the Pi

    Read it and Learn.

This is a mini project for beginners who are just learning to code. As the author shabaz says "the aim is to play a little more with graphics and create part of a game. No prior experience is needed in programming or gaming to follow this project and to make your own customizations. The code here can be modified and used whenever you want animated objects on a screen and movement."

Try building it yourself and tell us about it here.

Why did we create a getting started coding with the Pi Library?

I have long felt that for a true beginner to the PI, the resources on coding it were somewhat underwritten. Yes, they existed but there were missing pieces that I think people somehow learned along the way. I didn't take any actions about my concerns because the community is a living resource. It answers most questions that beginners have. All they need to do is ask.

But my mind changed recently when I went to the Bay Area MakerFaire in May of this year and manned the booth. While I was there, I got a chance to meet makers and Pi users face to face and listen to their stories and their concerns.

What came out of that experience was that I learned that some beginners indeed were being challenged by coding with the Pi.

I wanted to do something about it so I suggested to our team to create this section of Raspberry Pi.

Of course, it would not be possible without the help of Top Member shabaz. His knowledge, experience and great writing abilities put, as we say in the midwest US, "meat on the bones" of this project.

I encourage anyone who is new to the Raspberry Pi to read through the articles. They are starting to gain momentum. The best is yet to come.
