The Keysight Smart Bench Essentials collection is positioned as a complete set of lab bench products, primarily directed towards an educational lab environment. I am thrilled to be selected as a road tester for this review and extend my thanks to Element 14 and Keysight for the opportunity! Keysight Smart Bench Essentials portfolio of lab bench products includes a EDUX1052G oscilloscope, EDU36311A triple-output power supply, EDU33212A waveform generator and EDU34450A digital multimeter, each with their own licensed Pathwave BenchVue software application.
I have been running the Keysight Essentials equipment through their paces for a few days now, my review is well underway. For the interim I wanted to share some of my experience through some unboxing pictures.
UPDATE - the review is posted here
Delivery
I have found delivery to western Canada from Element14’s offices in Chicago to be reasonably fast. Even when using ground transportation, I normally see delivery within a week. However, it was necessary to be extra patient for this shipment which took nearly three weeks. Why? Well, only the shipping company would know for sure however I suspect the shipment may have been caught up in a backlog of trucks. Early February, truckers staging protests had blockades in place at a few Canada-USA border crossings, unfortunately this included the border crossing along the delivery route. Sigh.
Unboxing the Keysight Smart Bench Essentials
Two boxes were sent, one box containing the power supply and another large box containing another three Keysight boxes. Daniel made sure all was well cushioned for the journey! Often pictures are worth more than words.

Keysight has gone the extra mile to match the Essentials equipment aesthetics nicely. All have the same face layout, black on grey color scheme, seven inch display, and row of six selection buttons. The form factor of the three smaller units is virtually identical, with the power supply understandably larger. Button layouts and channel colors are consistent across the four units which supports intuitive operation.

Well, I could hardly wait to set things up, so I did not hold off any longer. In the first-time power on picture, I am showing the oscilloscope placed on top of the DMM for presentation. However this setup was short lived and is not a practical configuration - the top device may fall off easily. A bracket can be purchased to stack these securely, however I simply set the devices beside each other. The power supply has ample room and even the perfect size recess for another device to sit securely on top, and I now have the oscilloscope there.
This concludes my brief introduction of the Keysight Smart Bench Essentials. More to come along with my review. Please leave me a comment if you have any questions or requests!
