What Would You do with this MicroPython Single Board Computer and What Would You Need to Do it?

I plan on roadtesting thw Trinamic TMCM-0960-MotionPy Single Board Computer at the end of February. Before I launched the roadtest page, I have asked for some community feedback ( Top Members Top Members ) and I also wanted to get a conversation going with members who would be interested in roadtesting this board.

So, what do you think of this board? What are your thoughts about roadtesting it? Besides the board, what other things do you think would be helpful to roadtest or build something with this board?

As always, I appreciate the time and input you provide me to make the RoadTest program a success.

Here are the high points about the board:

The TMCM-0960-MotionPy board is an open-source single board computer running MicroPython. It comes with several communication interface options like CAN, RS485, UART, and separate GPIO headers. With a wide supply voltage range of +6...+50V and industrial Fieldbus interfaces it is the engineers’ swiss army knife for small automation applications. Plugging directly into the application for logging data on an SD card or updating subsystems without the need for additional tools, the module offers a total of 13 functions in Python programming language for ease of use.

I immediately jumped on this page when I read Single board computer..but that is a bit misleading in my opinion, it is an STM32 microcontroller board .
Being able to run micropython or circuitpython does not make it a single board computer. From the term I expected it tu run an OS like linux on which I could implement python programms.
or any RTOS more specific to trinamic typical applications.
If this board would qualifiy as an SBC than my EI.O.T Episode 485: How To Make A Custom PCB From Design To Assembly
would also be an SBC and it clearly is not.

I like the products features in general but the wording is misleading. EDIT: it even Says MCU in the block diagram. so I think the marketing department made that goof.

On first glance its a MCU plattform with the interfaces broken out that trinamic drivers and other products use. I'm a bit inclined to build upon it.

Great idea RS rscasny ,on polls for possible reviews.

I find the community members that make posts, provide details I may not have thought about. It also encourages me to contribute by posting something I have discovered or question I might have.

It could be suggested this information could be done on the RoadTest review posting. On the RoadTest review page, I find I'm more focused on the application and not on the finer details of research.

Polls are the think tank of ideas.

Trinamic has a bunch of motor controllers that use CANBUS, RS485 and USB. Presumably this would add some smarts to those products.
Perhaps one of those would be a better pairing than an arduino shield.
Just saw this, yeah I would agree that any of these would be great in an actual roadtest as this seems to be the product intention.

I'm also not sure why they call it a single board computer, as that gives some connotation that it's on a similar platform as the raspberry pi or nvidia jetson.

That said, there seems to be only three gpio available (PA4, PC0 and PC1) so it's kinda limited in that regard. Then again, this doesn't seem to be a dev or eval board, so I guess it's meant for applications with a max requirement of 3 gpio ?
