Why Do Some RoadTest Winners Stop Logging In?

19 Mar 2017

It's Sunday morning and I'm catching up on things that I don't always get a chance to do during office hours where I'm in meetings, on the phone, answering questions, etc.

This morning I sent follow up emails to RoadTest winners who have not posted Reviews.

Of the 12 emails I sent, 11 were to RoadTester winners who stopped logging into element14 about one month after their respective RoadTest enrollments closed. The 12th stop logging in a few months after.

The reason for this behavior would be pure conjecture. But  there does seem to be a correlation between not logging in and not writing a review.

All that I can reasonably conclude is now I have to check to see if a prospective winner has logged in and take that into consideration when I offer my recommendations to a supplier.

Don, I try to use TMs. I welcome their applications. And I do get much better responses with TMs. But I have to balance the needs of the suppliers and the need to offer new people the opportunity in order…

Are these relatively new members who had perhaps only created an Element14 account recently in order to apply for the road test in the first place? It's sad that you are having to go to these lengths to…

I commented on the use of TM's on your other comment. To grow the community the use of known good members is a great idea, the definition is the issue. Points over time, involvement etc, this does not…

What type of qualification hurdles might be appropriate?

Would you go as far as asking first time reviewers to buy the kit and get reimbursed upon publication of the review? Or holding a cash equivalent in escrow? Would a voucher from a trusted member be adequate?

Would posting a non-anonymous write-up of the road test proposal by the candidate provide that extra incentive to not be publicly dishonorable.

I think I've just figured out a feasible solution for the roadtests.

(It may or may not have been mentioned before by others)

The roadtest candidates should be given a few physical tasks preliminary tasks as a qualifying final prior to winning.

From the output of these tasks e14 and the vendors can judge them for the necessary quality.

These tasks can be made public or private at the discretion of the stakeholders.

    Just a thought.

I understand what you're saying, and I agree for the need to increase the rate of completed road tests. All I'm getting at is the constant use of the term TM's. I feel there are a lot of others who have proven they are reliable through various means and are not TMs. See my comment below and the response from rachaelp.

    Kas,

I do not want to exclude anyone.

The main issue right now is saving Road Test.

Regardless of the cause, if the Venders get unhappy, we do not get anything to road test.

It is clear that Element 14 needs to rebuild some trust with the venders.

That repair needs to be the highest priority.

I am just trying to address that issue with the lowest risk to Element 14.

I am also trying to suggest a reasonable process by which new people can be added to a trusted road testing group so that we keep the venders happy.

Ideally, such a process would not be needed.  Unfortunately, a few bad apples have cast a shadow on the entire community.

My only concern is to save the community.

I assume then you would disqualify members like myself from these road tests to protect the vender because I'm missing a blue star hanging from a gold ribbon...

Did you not read the full post:

I suggest using a system where you bring new people in gradually in small numbers to become trusted road testers.
