Why Do Some RoadTest Winners Stop Logging In?

19 Mar 2017

It's Sunday morning and I'm catching up on things that I don't always get a chance to do during office hours where I'm in meetings, on the phone, answering questions, etc.

This morning I sent follow up emails to RoadTest winners who have not posted Reviews.

Of the 12 emails I sent, 11 were to RoadTester winners who stopped logging into element14 about one month after their respective RoadTest enrollments closed. The 12th stop logging in a few months after.

The reason for this behavior would be pure conjecture. But  there does seem to be a correlation between not logging in and not writing a review.

All that I can reasonably conclude is now I have to check to see if a prospective winner has logged in and take that into consideration when I offer my recommendations to a supplier.

Don, I try to use TMs. I welcome their applications. And I do get much better responses with TMs. But I have to balance the needs of the suppliers and the need to offer new people the opportunity in order…

I commented on the use of TM's on your other comment. To grow the community the use of known good members is a great idea, the definition is the issue. Points over time, involvement etc, this does not necessarily mean it needs to be a TM there are others here who have done great reviews consistently and are not TMs.

    Hi Randall,

I have already posted on this issue on the other thread.

As much as you want to encourage new members, you need to approach road tests with strategy.

Use TM's in road tests as they are a KNOWN test reporter and blogger.

You need to show the vendor's that their products are getting quality assessment.

Until someone proves they WILL respond, you have to be cautious.  There are just too many people who want the item free and have no intention of doing the test report.  Just a fact of life.

First of this what Rachael said.

Also it can be that the users are not more employed in their company and can't post more.
A forum is used extremely dynamically. And it can be that the live in some countries can be difficult.  That is what i think.

But i also hope that they are not trolls. That would be the worst scenario.

    Best Regards,

    Gerald

Are these relatively new members who had perhaps only created an Element14 account recently in order to apply for the road test in the first place?

It's sad that you are having to go to these lengths to investigate, including logging in on a Sunday to find the time to do follow up investigations. Hopefully this will be productive and give you further insights into how to weed out those who are just after the free kit. It does look like things are improving since your first post on this issue so maybe you've managed to turn it around now and things will keep going in the right direction.

    Best Regards,

    Rachael
