Hi,
Tonight element14 will be upgraded to a newer version of the platform we use. This change gives us the the chance to improve the way we organise RoadTest. I was at a presentation of the new features last night, so I thought I'd pass them on.
The current change is to do with entry to RoadTests. Now we have events, which confuse people as they think that it is a physical event. This was the only way I could figure out how to manage tests when I started the group. From tomorrow, there will be a RoadTest tab next to discussions, documents and events. In that tab there is a drop down menu which will let you navigate to the particular test you are applying for. There you will find a button which lets you apply for the test. You will have to complete a form..name, address etc, which then you can then save to your profile (as private) so the next time the form will be filled in automatically.
I think that's the basics of it. The first test using the new system will be tomorrow with the ADI RF kit. Do me a favour and try give it a go and let me know what you think here? I think the first time you apply will take a little longer, but after that it should be just as easy as now.
The benefits this change will bring are that I don't need to send a pm to each winner for addresses and then copy and paste into a spreadsheet manually (you can imagine how "fun" that was for me when I had to do 50 for one test, and how excited I was when one Product Manager here offered me 200 dev kits
). After the draw I can go onto the entry page, which looks like it does now, and tick the testers. Anyone can see that page and the testers automatically. The entries will be in a form, which means I don't have to wait 2 - 3 weeks to get addresses from testers, and you get the kits much quicker
.
Ally
