Radtest shipping policy, Fedex charge for roadtest set

MARK2011
MARK2011 9 months ago

Did anything changed in roadtest shipping policy? As I hope, the statement that Roadtesters will be shipped the kit free of charge is still valid isn't it?

I was today surprised that the parcel with the roadtest kit delivered by Fedex with demand of truly high charge. Almost on the level of local kit price.

The first time when fedex delivers. First time when charging for roadtest set. Do yu have thoughts, experience in that matter?

Another issue is the complete lack of prior information about the shipment from Fedex.

Previously,  UPS sent emails, SMS provided a tracking link.

Fedex surprised with a courier visit and an invoice to pay.

FedEx even supplied a tracking number that didn't exist for the package I refused, so it is truly a mystery - the only info is that it came from Farnell.

Fedex is absolutely horrible. I don't understand how that company can function. They almost always want me to pay import taxes twice, because they refuse to accept proof that it has been already paid. Packages that take 2 days to travel across the world proceed to stay in a warehouse for 3 weeks 10km away from where they are supposed to deliver it.

A few weeks ago, I ordered something, and put my home address as the billing address, and my workplace as the delivery address. They proceeded to google my name and the office address, find out which company I work for, find the email address for accounting, and send them an email to pay the import taxes(that have already been paid). When asked why they did not contact me(my email address and phone number were clearly on the package), they couldn't answer.

I saw that my last road test package was flagged as gift, with value of the product. I didn't get taxed,  but customs would if they spotted it.

They seem to have switched couriers to FedEx. I recently received 3 packages from e14. FedEx wanted extra charges for two of them, but one was free of charges. One of them, my wife paid for without knowing it should have no charges, one of them I didn't pay - I don't know what happened to it. The request for fees is not even accompanied by a description of what is in the package, so I don't even know what I refused payment for.

I don't think the policy has changed - reviewers shouldn't have to pay anything. I've been told to reject any parcel that requests payment and then investigate.

I guess I've been lucky - the change from UPS to FedEx/TNT has not changed anything for me. The parcels arrive dumped on my doorstep with not even a knock or a doorbell ring. The lack of prior tracking information is a little annoying though.

I'm in the UK and have never had any issues with items shipped from the US in the past. I was surprised so see that my NGC103 road test item came from the UK (via TNT). I assumed that was because the destination was the UK. I must have missed hearing that everything is coming from here.

    Hello Mark,

You shouldn't have been charged anything (nor paid anything) to/from fedex.

Everything we send is set 'delivery duty paid' and if FedEx try to charge you as the recipient, you need to challenge it with them.

We can also do that for you.

If you've already paid something for this, please do let us know and we'll chase it in January when the staff are back in the office.

Thank you ALL for your responses.

I refused to accept the package. Unfortunately, the courier did not provide me with any information about the shipment. The situation became even more bizarre when FedEx, in response to my inquiries, claimed that they had no record of a shipment addressed to me. It's a complete mess. I have no way to resolve this issue on my end. I hope it will be easier for element14 to handle. Honestly, I’m starting to miss the trouble-free and professional deliveries from UPS.

But above all, to everyone celebrating Christmas now, and, of course, to the entire international element14 community:

Wishing you all the very best for Christmas and a wonderful New Year 2025!
May components get cheaper and cheaper,
and may your soldering irons never overheat.Stuck out tongue winking eye

I suspect that they use two numbering types: their own and TNT (I have learned this when trying to dispute customs charges - they seem to not being used to the fact that sender could pay custom's fees), that is not searchable using their tracker (maybe there is another one for TNT)
