The U1620A is the world’s first handheld scope with a VGA display. This 200 MHz handheld scope offers a floating measurement capability with two CAT III 600 V isolated channels. With a 2 Mpts memory depth, it captures more waveforms from signals such as pulse width modulated circuit, in rush, transient, and motor start up sequences. Its benchtop-like display and dual window zoom function allow you to easily identify problem areas and zooming for more detailed analysis. Now, you can view signals in detail and detect glitches easily.
Q&A
What we would like to see in a person doing the Road Test?
Maximizing the combination of the high sampling rate, deep memory and dual zoom to see more and do more. Feel the difference of using the 3 viewing modes in an indoor, dark or in bright sunlight environments.
Are there certain application areas we would like folks working on?
Any application in the industrial or electronics segment.
I don't think it is really hard to hook it to the system or project that you are working on. Then capture couple of things, put them here. After that you are free to do with your device what ever you want. It'll take no time. But they just go easy and open new accounts after the treasure. ( I think )
That unfortunately sometimes happens, there are always people who abuse the system.
Frankly, I think one of the requirements of being chosen for a roadtest would be to already be an active contributor to the community, I think this would lessen the amount of abuse.
But at least the people who do not have a valid reason and will not post the review later will never be chose again.
On the other hand, I am not sure anymore how this Road Test thing is working ! This is a great peace of equipment and we have 5 lucky friends. The problem on this road test is only 2 reviews out of 5. What is going on? Did the others get it or not? If yes then, haven,t they opened the box? or Did they put it on Ebay directly?
I'm glad to see all these great reviews. It's such an expensive product, but thanks to all the reviewers, now I know I can spend the money and get a good product.
I also got mine today but only just put it to charge, plenty of photos of the device and package contents have been taken so I will make my part 1 of the review available soon.
Thanks for the hint Anton, I will dig our my IR meter to see how much difference does a long run-time make for the temperature of the device.
I am not sure if that is sufficient. They are generally speaking about low value products which is not applicable for the Scopemeter I guess .
Beginning next week (Mon. or Tuesday) I will have to go to our customs office for an export clearing and I can ask them what to expect and what would be applicable. Then we could at least give advice and a fixed state for further shippings to Germany.
As I said I am not sure if marking it as sample is enough. Well, I wouldn't mind a mark (as most people won't mind it) as long as the product still works fine. A friend has tested an U1272 which had a sticker "sample" on it, but I am not sure how customs handled it in his case......he is living in Greece anyway. So that is another story.
thanks for that informations, so I´ve read through the text and can say if the package isn´t send untill now there is a chance to get it free of all tax and charges when the DSO get´s an unremovable sign which mark´s it as sample (like an element 14 logo and the word sample which could be get onto the case with some hot iron)
in Germany you can import samples up to 50Euro (value, not what you actually payed....) without charges. Above that there is VAT and maybe customs, but as I bought a scope some weeks ago in china I can tell you that customs is currently 0% for DSO's.
I hope te parcel slips through and you just have to pay a brokerage fee or so as the VAT for the scope would be a bit tough I guess.
It more or less depends on what is declared and what customs think of the declaration. At least be prepared as our customs are very strict since the past few years.
I don't know if anyone would refund you the charges or so. That may be to discuss with others.
i´m also lucky and hope to test all functions and also want you to send me request what you want to see tested and if i´ve the possibility i will test it.
what me scareing about shipping to germany a bit is that i read a post on an german site (don´t know anymore which site exactly it was) for a few day´s where sb. had to pay some import charges and VAT, so what would i´ve to do if there will be a nice letter which would say "please pay wxyz€ import charges and VAT"
I will do my best to provide as detailed report as possible, if anyone has any requests for specific test feel free to let me know, I will see if I have the possibility to do those tests.
