About NI Thermocouple Measurement Kit

This entry-level 4-channel USB thermocouple measurement system includes thermocouples with mini-jack connectors so you have a plug-and-play experience from your PC all the way to the sensor. And, with a small, rugged, USB powered device, it’s easier to pack up and take your test on the road or move between labs. National Instruments provides the thermocouple input module, chassis and software, while Omega Engineering provides the thermocouples for this kit.

Features

  • NI quality data acquisition hardware for confidence in your test data
  • FlexLogger data logging software to get you from sensor to data, fast
  • Configure a custom UI with graphs, charts, and alarm indicators
  • Set trigger conditions for alarms and logging
  • Add operator input panels to capture test meta data
  • Save to file formats for Excel (.csv) or the open binary standard .tdms so you can use with any in-house software
  • A modular, 1-slot chassis so you can change your measurement system as easy as you can change modules. Reuse the chassis and software with any of the 80+ other CompactDAQ compatible C Series modules from NI

Parts Description

784788-01 Temperature Input Module: The NI 9210 includes anti-aliasing filters, open-thermocouple detection, and cold-junction compensation for high-accuracy thermocouple measurements. The NI 9210 features NISTtraceable calibration and a channel-to-earth ground isolation barrier for safety, noise immunity, and high common-mode voltage range. Click here to see DATASHEET

781425-01 Chassis, cDAQ-9171, CompactDAQ System: NI cDAQTm-9171 NI CompactDAQ One-Slot Bus-Powered USB Chassis. These specifications are for the NI cDAQ-9171 chassis only. These specifications are typical at 25 °C unless otherwise noted. For the C Series module specifications, refer to the documentation for the C Series module you are using. Click here to read DATASHEET

785748-3501 Test Software, FlexLogger, Subscription License: FlexLogger is application software for quick sensor configuration and data logging of mixed signals to verify electromechanical systems, all without programming. FlexLogger helps you build flexible, scalable data-logging systems with NI DAQ hardware, no programming required. You can use sensor-specific configuration workflows to quickly set up, visualize, and log a mix of synchronized measurements from analog sensors, digital signals, and vehicle communication buses. You can also generate voltage, current, or digital signals to drive actuators or control set points. FlexLogger automatically saves metadata documenting your test configuration, so you can quickly trace test results and make comparisons across multiple tests. You can interactively review test results in the integrated data viewer to visually inspect your data and draw conclusions. Click here to read DATASHEET/FAQs

5SRTC-TT-K-24-72 Thermocouple: 5-pack of Type K thermocouples with 2 m (80") of 24 AWG PFA insulated wire and a molded mini connector with snap-on strain relief. Click here to read DATASHEET

  • Thank you roadtesters for 100% completion rate on this roadtest. V

  • When I press the NEW button to write a review, I can only select products I already reviewed, but no this kit. Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with the page?

  • I looked for drivers for my existing laptop, but they do not seem to have any beyond win 7.  My desktop has so many software packages on it that are not supported on OS's past 7 that I could not even think of upgrading it (if they even had drivers for win 10).  I may still want to look at trying the upgrade on the laptop, but then again, it might be nice to have laptops with 7 and 10/11 running to test my software install packages and be able to  check performance prior to shipping (and hoping it works for my clients).

  • Why cant you install win10/11 on your current computers?

  • No, I have not gotten that far yet, but I have been wondering about that license.

I tried installing the drivers (NI_DAQmx) on my desktop system (Windows 7), but no joy there.  I then switched over to my laptop (also Windows 7) and that seemed to work (I was able to get the system to find drivers and actually see some data).  I will be digging in a bit deeper and see what else I can get working.  I might be shopping for a used/refurbished laptop with Windows 10/11 in order to use more recent versions of the software.

  • I haven't tried it on Windows 7 as I use Windows 11. Did you get the FlexLogger license?

  • Greetings fellow NI Thermocouple Measurement Kit Roadtesters.

Having received my roadtest kit, I have decided to get started loading drivers and applications necessary to test this product.  I was surprised (but not too surprised) to see that  the latest NI software does not support Windows 7.  There are older versions of software that do support Windows 7, but before I get too far down that road, I thought I would check to see if any of you have tried to get this running on Windows 7.  Any thoughts this process would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks so much for your quick response. You sure have your work cut out for you.

    Kind Regards

    Steve K

  • I am working on this today. Should have a decision either Friday afternoon for first thing on Monday.

  • Hi  and fellow RoadTesters.

I'm waiting in anticipation on the outcome of the selection of the RoadTester's for this review. If I'm not selected that's ok, but hopefully this Landing page will be updated with the list of the 3 selected candidates as in other roadtest. For example this landing page for the  Wurth Sensor FeatherWing Kit

I know this comment comes only 1 day after this RoadTest enrollment was closed, but I often check on the outcome of my qualifications for Roadtest. especially if I'm excited about the productNerd

I know  that you are dealing with a new interface to the new CMS and my apologies in advance for my enthusiasm

    Kind Regards
