The Eclypse Z7 is specifically designed to enable the rapid prototyping and development of embedded measurement systems. Featuring high-speed Zmod ports for modular expansion and a Xilinx Zynq®-7020 SoC, the Eclypse Z7 is fast and flexible, reducing the time it takes for engineers and researchers to develop innovative and powerful new high-speed instrumentation, control, and measurement systems for edge-computing, medical, and communications applications.
Zmod Expansion
Zmod is Digilent’s expansion solution using the open-source SYZYGY standard from Opal Kelly. Faster than the Pmod Standard and more compact and cost-effective than FMC, Zmods improve the customizability options for high-speed I/O. Plug in your application specific Zmods and get up and running in hours or days, instead of weeks or months. Take a look at the Features tab for a list of compatible Zmods.
ZMOD Digitizer
The Digilent Zmod Digitizer is a SYZYGY compatible module containing a dual-channel ADC and the associated front end. The Zmod Digitizer is intended to be used with any SYZYGY compatible carrier board having the required capabilities.
When coupled to a base board using the SYZYGY expansion, like the Eclypse Z7 or Genesys ZU, the combination will serve as a powerful prototyping platform for instrumentation, high-speed control, and SDR. By utilizing these expansion capabilities, users can spend more time on the analytical and system-level aspects of the solution rather than having to focus on the component-level interactions of the devices.
The Zmod Digitizer module is a variant of the similar Zmod Scope module but optimized for RF signal acquisition and frequency-domain analysis. The simpler DC-coupled input and 60 MHz anti-aliasing input filter improves immunity to stray RF radiation and the versatile and very low-jitter on-board clock generator enables acquisition at key rates, including 122.8 MHz often used in SDR applications.
Zmod Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) Module
Formerly known as the Zmod DAC 1411: SYZYGY-compatible Dual-channel 14-bit Digital-to-Analog Converter Module. The Zmod AWG is one of Digilent's first SYZYGY-compliant expansion modules. The SYZYGY standard offers a much higher speed/bandwidth digital interface than Pmods, but at a much smaller and lower-cost form-factor than FMC, enabling the user to configure an FPGA development board with the right I/O for their application. Driven by the SYZYGY carrier, the Zmod AWG can simultaneously generate two ±5V signals with 14 bits of resolution at a sample rate up to 100MS/s. Analog outputs can be connected to a circuit using SMA cables. When coupled to a base board using SYZYGY expansion, like the Eclypse Z7 or Genesys ZU, the combination will serve as a powerful prototyping platform for instrumentation, high-speed control, and SDR . By utilizing these expansion capabilities, users can spend more time on the analytical and system-level aspects of the solution rather than having to focus on the component-level interactions of the devices.

If anyone's after some inspiration, this board (with different Zmod boards) was road tested a few years ago.
