RoadTest: Microchip DM240012 USB Starter Kit

Author: robotonics

Creation date:

Evaluation Type: Independent Products

Did you receive all parts the manufacturer stated would be included in the package?: True

What other parts do you consider comparable to this product?: Microchip PIC24FJ256GA110 / PIC18F4550

What were the biggest problems encountered?: The biggest problem I encountered was the 132 pin Hirose I/O expansion connector. I appreciate that this is to make it easier for the manufacturer and cuts their costs. However, it is a nuisance to a developer who has to order expensive low quantity parts and difficult to make a prototype with. This problem alone delayed my development by a week. In comparison I have STM32F4 Dicovery board which has simple to source and use pcb header pins.
