Hi Im having a misalignment in the x-axis on my makerbot replicator

Hi I'm having some troubles with the alignment in the x-axis

i tried:

swamping axis motors -Same result

checked the heat bed level -Same result

Reset factory settings -Same result

and also checked axis belt and it looks fine with good tension (but I never changed and I have my printer for almost 2 years)

(and Im just ordered a new belt)

do you have any thoughts on the problem?

Also I attached some pictures of the model and the result

thanks for the help

One of the 3D printers where I use to work had this problem. It turned out to be a combination of a loose belt and a bad cable going to one of the motors.

Michael has some great points.  I would also check your acceleration.  To fast will also cause misalignment.  It seems like the shift is consistent in one direction which would make me think there is some printer alignment issue.   Check to see that all the axis are square and that the grub screws on the pulleys are tight.  Do all the axis move freely and without a bind point.  When you swapped the motors did the shift go in the opposite direction?  Did this start to occur after a software or firmware update?  Does the electronics get hot?

    Hi Thanks for helping me
I just change the x axis belt and the thing keeps doing the same

being honest I didn't remember when it started to fail

i remember that it has problems with the limit switch in the x-axis that causes a loud cranking sound when the belt hops the pulley (so I change the cable) but i didnt notice an alignment issue in small prints (1in x 1in)
and also at first y was using replicator G and then moved to maker ware

the electronics have proper heat sink so them dont heat excessively

and even if the model is rotated the alignment issue stays in the x-axis (at first I was thinking that it seems as an accumulative error because there is no gaps)

Since you know there was an issue with the x-axis switch have you checked to see if its triggered or never triggered at all?  This would cause issues with prints.  I see you said you swapped the motors did you also swap the stepper drivers?  Have you tried adjusting the current on the steppers?  Like i said since it seems to not follow anything at this time we can conclude its the x-axis components causing the issue.  You dont see it in small prints just for the fact the error isnt high enough to show up.  I would assume if a larger object is printed the misalignment would be greater.  Have you checked to make sure the x-axis moves freely?

I see you said you swapped the motors did you also swap the stepper drivers?

Yes - and the misalignment keeps in X axis

Have you tried adjusting the current on the steppers?

I don't know how to check it, but I presume that is in default setting

Have you checked to make sure the x-axis moves freely?

Yes - the cart can jog all the way through X axis

I just change the belt with no good result

the next thing you want to try is to change the motor cable, even though the cable has continuity can be broken filaments, which can cause current problems

do you know what are the part number for the connectors?

I'm afraid that this link is for the Sensor swich cable not for the Motor cable

I'm locking for a brand new makerbot replicator Motor cable or to find parts to make one or

as last resource refurbish my "faulty" cable
