Help needed: Lulzbot Taz can't find his home

Hello experts,

I own a Lulzbot Taz 6, but didn't use it for a while, maybe half a year.

When I reopen it, it have problem to find home.

When I set "auto home", the Z axis keep moving down, even after hit the platform, it keep going down, try to find his home.

If I set it to print, it will do the same thing, it can't find it's start point, keep going down.

It makes very loud noise when this happen, I am afraid I will break the axis, so I have to shut it down.

Even I tried to set it back to facotry defult, it doesn't work.

Does anyone know where could be the problem? How can I solve it?

Looking forward to hear from you guys,

Thank you!

Hello guys, Thank you all for your kindly reply. The problem solved, simple and stupid. Few weeks ago I moved to a new home, in order to make the transportation, I disambled the printer and reassambled…

    Hi richardzu ,

From my experience with the Taz 6 this is down to two things:

    - The nozzle is dirty, so it's not making a good connection, clean it, perhaps with some fine sandpaper, or heat it up to 220degC and clean it off.

    - You need to manually off-set the Z height, either from the menu's or you need to hand-turn the lead screws for the Z axis and square things up.

Lulzbot's documentation suggests that you get a ruler, or measuring stick, and ensure that both of the locations where the carriage attaches to the lead screws are the same distance away from the top of the frame as each other.

Lulzbot's guide on setting the Z offset is here: https://www.lulzbot.com/learn/tutorials/Z-axis-offset

Lulzbot guide on squaring up your 3D printer is here: https://ohai.lulzbot.com/project/squaring-taz-6-frame/

Follow these guides and you should be set.
