3D Slicer Software

Would it be possible to use 3D slicer software (for a 3D printer) and a laser cuter to cut out the layers (instead of a 3D printer)?

I think so, I use repetier, and it uses slic3r, repetier allows you to choose no extruder for things like cnc, slic3r lets you tweak it, you will have to read up or play with it to figure out the settings…

    Thanks Brad.

I was thinking that instead of 3D printing i could use a laser cuter and make large objects out of foam.

what do you call large Tim

even a laser cutter to cut upto 8"x11" will set you back 450$$ for a cheap one (China import) and rapidly gets into thousands of dollars for a good one with a bigger work area

you also will need a ventalation system and cooling (Water cooling) as these use CO2 Laser tubes for the most part, although you can get some really slow ones that use Laser diodes upto a few hundred milliwatts
