so an update on my Robox CEL Printer, it appears I had a faulty power cable *Intermittent connection ) going to the head that ultimately caused the head to overheat and also flickering LEDs , fan stopping etc when running, sent the printer in to CEL USA repair center for warranty repair and now have it back. CEL center in the USA for repairs makes it much more viable for North America servicing. and they where excellent, kept me informed through the entire process and even sent back the calibration / test print with the printer to show it was working well.
BEN was my contact and repair technician there, Well done and thanks
So with the head replaced and the power cable to the head also replaced I now have no flickering lights, or intermittent head not detected issues (This time the system accepted a head the first time I attached it, I had never had that since new), so far the test prints are showing up very well and no sign of previous issues, time to try some real print jobs (20Hr run types)
in summary, when these printers are working they are excellent, most people do not have issues and if you do, CEL / Robox have proved to me that they will go the extra mile to get the issues resolved and get you up and running again. so I would still recommend this printer to anyone where the print size fits there needs.
Cons of the printer, like pretty much all 3D printers, ABS is a pain in the ass to get right and use of skirts or additional thin islands on corners etc is essential to improving the print, Filament from CEL is expensive compared to other sources
PRO, when using PLA I have yet to have a bad print and the quality has been very good, the printer is well built and has all the features needed like bed heating, enclosed print area for better quality prints, the ability to take the entire gcode for the print allowing you to disconnect or power off your pc while the job runs
notes:
It is essential to keep up to date with the Firmware and Desktop Software, the latest version massively improves bed leveling detection and has made a big difference in the print quality of the first few layers
A new dual extruder head is imminent for the printer and is supposed to be at a reasonable price, still waiting for the laser head though
