ObjectiveProvide overview of 3D Printers, their terminology, and concepts that have lead from the 1980s to today and beyond.
What’s coveredAfter a brief review of 3D Printing’s evolution and its potential for future change during the “3rd Industrial Revolution,” you will be introduced to the components of a 3D Printer (Arduinos and more) together with common terminology you will need in the lessons ahead.

It was a good start, but I would add a few things. I would make a list of the terms that you intend the class to learn and then refer to that list as you explain each. I would use more pictures to show…

Couple of suggestions: One: have Kirk use a lapel microphone on his shirt, it is hard to listen over time to a voice being echoed through the room to the camera mic. Two: please shoot the video in the…

Very nice job Kirk! As it was mentioned in the video but not shown, here is a link to a polar design 3d printer for reference. Morgan in Tails! | RepRAP Morgan Here is also a list of the most common 3d…

Is the video down? The screen is blank in both FF and Chrome. Nothing there to view.

    Hart-

The videos were deleted as Kirk is no longer able to produce these with some unfortunate heath issues.  Will have to see if E14 wants to continue with something like this.

Thanks for putting this lecture together Kirk - I quite enjoyed it! To me the most interesting part was about the Smithsonian scanning its artifacts. Here is the link to their current collection if anybody else is interested: Browser | Smithsonian X 3D

    Hello Kirk,

Nice presentation, read the other comments. As a fellow teacher I think the lecture was informative and followed your course outline. As I am just starting to make curriculum for the Middle School on 3d printing, I'm finding myself what to teach first. I have been teaching 2d and 3d Cad for over 10 years and 20 years in the Architecture field and feel that terminology is the first hurdle. I look back to when I first started on the computer and learning both cad vocabulary and also the computer vocabulary to build on my understanding on how to navigate to create a 2d drawing. Back in 1985 AutoCad had not Icons to speak of and had to type in all the commands by hand. As developing my curriculum I'm sure I will have to revise along the way. I'm looking forward to viewing future  lectures as it will deepen my knowledge of this growing area of additive manufacturing. Thanks for my first online visitation of 3D printing.

    Hi Kirk

The class was very informative. Having said that I would like to suggest few additions into the lecture. I am a person with Medical background an Occupational Therapist to be precise. All the technological terms you use are very new to me. It would be very helpful of you if you can update your lecture with a list of such terms and what they mean so that we can take notes of them. Rest everything is very fine with the class

I have been in field service work for 40+ years. I am retired now and looking for something to do. My wife would really like me to "get busy doing something - anything". Element14 looks like a good place to start.
